Time Slips Away

As I sit and contemplate
The years that have gone by;
I find it’s true what the Bible says
About little boys, then I sigh.

There comes a time of letting go,
You were not made to cling to me.
A young man must leave his home
To find the life that’s meant to be.

When your day comes round each year
I travel back in time.
I turn the pages of your life
In the recesses of my mind.

A Mother’s precious memories
Mark the milestones in your life.
From the first time I held you
Til the day you took a wife.

In my memories you remain
A mischievous little boy,
Climbing trees, catching pollywogs,
And making lots of noise.

Then I gaze across the room
And see a picture hanging there.
A son, a husband, a father,
Who gives his family loving care.

My prayer for you this year
As you journey on through life,
Focus your eyes on Jesus
And you’ll never be lost in a world of strife.

Happy Birthday Adam!
Written with love,
Mom
